Getting Here
Jekyll Island is located just minutes from Interstate 95, off Exit 29 on the southeast coast of Georgia. The area is served by two international airports and one regional jetport. The Savannah International Airport is just 70 miles north up I-95, and the Jacksonville International Airport is also right off of I-95, 60 miles south. The Glynco Jetport , located in Brunswick, Georgia, is just minutes from Jekyll Island and offers daily flights to and from Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport. Please contact the Brunswick/Golden Isles Visitors Bureau for more information on specific travel times and distances: 1-800-933-COAST and on the web at www.bgivb.com.
All festival events take place in, or depart from, the Jekyll Island Convention Center, which is located at the intersection of Jekyll Island Road (Route 520) and Beachview Drive on Jekyll Island. A day pass is $3 a day. Guests can go and come many times during the day until midnight.
Getting Around
Georgia’s Colonial Coast Birding & Nature Festival will not be providing shuttle service between hotels and festival activities, and registrants are responsible for their own transportation to and from field trip sites, unless otherwise noted. Festival staff will be coordinating carpools from the Jekyll Island Convention Center parking lot for all field trips, and we encourage all registrants to take advantage of this. Published field trip departure and return times are based on travel time to and from Jekyll Island, so if you wish to carpool, please be at the parking lot, ready to go, at least 10 minutes prior to your field trip’s departure time.
