BRASSTOWN BALD, SOSEBEE COVE & COOPER’S CREEK WMA

6:20 AM – 4:30 PM Maximum 10
Ken, creator of the “Wings Over Georgia” web site will lead us around some of his favorite birding sites in this all day field trip. Bring a box lunch, water and snacks. Moderate.

BURRELL’S FORD ROAD & ELLICOTT ROCK WILDERNESS
Leader: Darlene Moore FIELD TRIP FULL
6:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Darlene will take us to the premiere location in the state for year-round Red-breasted Nuthatches. Wear hiking boots and bring water, snacks and a box lunch. Moderate.

BLACK ROCK MOUNTAIN STATE PARK & WARWOMAN DELL RECREATION AREA

6:40 AM – 4:00 PM
We’ll pack a lunch and join Georgann, birding-by-ear guru and birding tour company owner, for an all day birding adventure. After Black Rock Mountain S.P. we will have lunch in the Dell. Bring water. Moderate.

THE BLAIRSVILLE INGLES AND IVY LOG GAP ROAD, WEST TO EAST

6:50 AM – 2:00 PM
We will carpool over to the Blairsville area for some of the best birding in the state with one of the best bird photographers in the state. We will have lunch in the Young Harris area. Fairly easy.

IVY LOG GAP ROAD AND THE BLAIRSVILLE INGLES, EAST TO WEST

7:00 AM – 2:00 PM

We will carpool over to the Young Harris area for some of the best birding in the state with two of the best birders in the state. We will have lunch in the Blairsville area. Fairly easy.

RABUN BALD & THE DILLARD LOOP

7:15 AM – 3:00 PM
Take a hike up one of Georgia’s tallest peaks and visit some of the great birding sites around Dillard with a local; Louis lives in Tiger, just 10 minutes from the Old Clayton Inn. Please wear hiking boots and bring water, a box lunch and snacks. Moderately strenuous.

TALLULAH GORGE STATE PARK

7:30 AM – NOON
Tallulah Falls is one of Georgia’s most beautiful natural areas and we will bird this area that is down the road from Clayton. This field trip will have easy walking and plenty of lunch options nearby. Bring water and a snack.

Participant Limit: 20 people. State Parking Pass or $4.00 per vehicle parking fee is required.

We will park some cars at the bottom, near the lodge, drive up to Anna Ruby Falls, leave the rest of the cars and bird on foot the 5 miles back to the lodge. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water, a box lunch and snacks. Moderately strenuous.

Participant limit: 10. State Parking Pass or $4.00 per vehicle parking fee is required.

SMITHGALL WOODS - DUKES CREEK CONSERVATION AREA

We will leave some cars at the office and drive the others up to “Fish Camp” at the opposite end of the property, then bird our way back on foot to the office. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a box lunch, water and snacks. Moderately strenuous. State Parking Pass or $4.00 per vehicle parking fee is required.

Our Friday evening speaker and graduate student research grant recipient will take us to his research site 20 minutes or so from the Old Clayton Inn. Easy.

Field trips are subject to change and could be canceled if there are not enough participants.
